Hirasa ware Flower Vase This white porcelain tokkuri (sake flask) was crafted in Hirasa, Satsuma Domain, during the late Edo period. Using Amakusa pottery stone, it features a serene and distinctive glaze, expressed through various techniques like sometsuke (underglaze blue) and iro-e (colored overglaze). The vase exudes an elegant charm reminiscent of folk art. Originally used for shochu (distilled spirits) rather than sake in Satsuma's culture, this tokkuri can also be enjoyed as a delightful flower vase.
